Fundraising, organising events, attending meetings, collecting donations, planning tombolasβthe work that goes on behind the scenes never seems to stop. While we absolutely love what we do, it’s important to remember that taking time to enjoy each other’s company is just as valuable as the fundraising itself.
With no stalls to set up, raffle prizes to sort, or event schedules to coordinate, we recently enjoyed a well-earned day out together at Beverley Racecourse. It was a chance for us to step away from our fundraising responsibilities, relax, and simply spend time together as friends.
Of course, we couldn’t resist adding our own touch to the day. Dressed in our matching pink fascinators, we certainly brought a splash of colour to the racecourse and had plenty of fun embracing the occasion. There were lots of laughs, plenty of photos, and even a few attempts at predicting the winning horses.
Sadly, our betting skills didn’t quite match our fundraising talents! While most of us left without any winnings to celebrate, we all agreed that the day itself was the real prize. The opportunity to enjoy each other’s company, share a few laughs, and make new memories together was worth far more than any winning ticket.
Days like these remind us that our group is about more than fundraising. Alongside raising money for important causes, we have built genuine friendships, created a supportive community, and shared countless experiences together. Taking time to enjoy those connections helps keep us motivated and ready for the next challenge.
We returned home with lighter purses, sore feet, and plenty of stories to tellβbut also feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to get back to doing what we do best.
Here’s to friendship, laughter, and the occasional day off from fundraising. Although, next time, we wouldn’t mind a winning horse or two! ππβ¨
